We might not be able to be with them for 18 months but we will enjoy looking at their smiling faces.

Casa de Dois Mega Church We have been attending a small branch about two hours from here the past two Sundays. Each time we do, we are taken back by the Casa de Dios Church building we pass on our way. Here is a view of their worship building. To gain some perspective of the size of this building, you need to look at the large parking areas which surround it. (The photos don't do justice to the actual size.) Another perspective comes from the inside photos below. Wikipedia says that as of 2011 Casa de Dios was attended by over 25,000 people. (I couldn't find more current statistics.) Additionally, they broadcast their services. Casa de Dios was founded on September 11, 1994 by Pastor Carlos "Cash" Luna and his wife Sonia Luna. (I love his nickname.)
Oakland II Neighborhood Park, Guatemala City, July 8, 2023 This morning, we altered our Saturday morning walk route to visit a place mentioned by other senior missionaries. Apparantly this park was started by a local resident. These pictures don't really do this park justice but they do give you a flavor. This is a welcome addition to a very large and very busy city.
Guatemala Election Season - April 2023 We are in election season and there are posters everywhere for the many, many candidates. We took a picture on our way to church today. As you can see, there are many signs along the left side of this city road. There are sections of city roads that have even more. We asked our driver Thursday night about how he chooses a candidate. He indicated it was rough because they are all crooked. With 25 national political parties it would be very difficult to choose.
