Humanitarian Clinic Donation

Today, we went to a clinic in a town over an hour from here named Centro de Salud De Santa Catarina Pinula. We were there because the church was donating several items needed by the clinic (refrigerator, stove, chairs, exam tables, computers, etc.) This clinic treats pregnant women and small children who cannot afford to pay for the service.



Here is a picture of the only doctor who works at the clinic. As you can see, she is past her prime physically. I'm sure she gets paid very little, if anything, but she stays at it faithfully. 



Here is one of her patients that came by during the proceedings. (Several came by in the time we were there and she showed love to all of them.) One of the humanitarian missionaries from the Church, Sister Elizabeth Wise, is standing next to her.

The Trip Home - 2/08/2024   I thought I might hand out the last of my Jesus cards on one of the flights home so I had Mary take this photo. I am glad to have this picture to remind me of an important part of my Guatemala mission. I handed out approximately 700 Jesus cards in just under 18 months in Guatemala. In the beginning, I gave one to each cashier with whom we interacted in a store and with others who helped us. As we walked, I would hand one to various people we encountered if I felt prompted. Each time I gave one out, I pointed to my name badge and commented it was because of Jesus that we were there.  We were very excited to be met at the SLC airport by April, Emmett, Alli, Brooke and Maggie. It was a happy reunion and an opportunity to play with grandchildren. With that, I end the blog for our Guatemalan mission. Serving that mission truly has blessed us.

  Quetzaltenango Temple and Lake Atitlan - February 2023 Wednesday, we went to Quetzaltenango, over four hours away, to attend the temple and to see that part of Guatemala. .It was a beautiful day and we very much enjoyed our time in this beautiful temple. From there, we drove over 2 hours to Lake Atitlan. It is a beautiful, large lake which has several old volcanoes around it. Here are a few photos of where we stayed.  This is one of 6 cabins in an area close to the beach. Above is a view from the sitting area outside the upstairs bedroom. It was a beautiful area. The dining room table and chairs were quite unique, having been taken from large trees in the area. I thought I would throw in a picture of the living room and kitchen for memory's sake.
