Taxisco, February 4, 2024

Today was our last day in the branch we have been attending almost all the time we have been in Guatemala. Also, for the past 10 months, I have served as 1st counselor in the Branch Presidency.



These are the branch members and missionaries who stayed around for a little while after the meetings. We will miss them. Today I ordained the young man in front of Mary and he passed the sacrament. He came on his own and is a wonderful young man.




We went to visit Nora (seated) and her daughter Andrea. Nora is the one who had her left foot amputated and isn't recovered enough to go to church yet. We were glad to say a proper goodbye to these two wonderful, faithful women.

Guatemala City Temple Yesterday, we were able to attend the Guatemala City Temple for the first time. It was dedicated in December of 1984, so the faithful saints in this area have had a temple for a long time. We very much enjoyed our experience and the temple workers were very friendly. At least two of them remembered my Uncle Tim who served as mission president in this area many years ago. I was very grateful for the quiet time to worship and meditate. We will try to attend frequently.

Friday Night Group Date Night, Aug. 25, 2023 Here we are with most of the couples who live in the same high-rise apartment building as we do. Together we walked to this excellent burger restaurant and enjoyed visiting. These couples come from Alaska (Adams), Arizona (Bishops), Idaho (Poteets), Texas (Oleas) and Utah (Carpenters & Lunts). (The brother from Texas is originally from Chile.)

Oakland II Neighborhood Park, Guatemala City, July 8, 2023 This morning, we altered our Saturday morning walk route to visit a place mentioned by other senior missionaries. Apparantly this park was started by a local resident. These pictures don't really do this park justice but they do give you a flavor. This is a welcome addition to a very large and very busy city.
